The triple-decker purple Knight Bus from The Prisoner of Azkaban is a proper 499-piece set this time. Kids 8 and up can build it themselves, and it finishes as a substantial model — 15 cm tall and 17 cm long, with real presence on a shelf.

The details are the draw: the upper deck lifts off entirely, and inside the beds slide and the chandelier swings, recreating the film's gag of the bus shrinking and throwing passengers around. You get 5 minifigures — Harry, driver Ernie Prang, conductor Stan Shunpike, a sleeping witch, and the mysterious Padfoot. Scene pieces are included too: the lamppost and bench where Harry's adventure begins, his trunk with a Galleon coin and Hogwarts letter, and a Daily Prophet newspaper headlined "Escape from Azkaban."

At 499 pieces, it's a nice one- or two-hour build for an 8-year-old — not drawn out.
