The frame is all steel, rated to 700 lbs in Queen. At 14 inches tall it leaves well over a foot of clearance underneath — suitcases, storage bins, off-season bedding all disappear under there, which is usually the space a small bedroom is missing.

The wood slats run full width in one piece and are held with Velcro rather than end pegs, spaced 3.1–3.4 inches apart, so memory foam, latex and spring mattresses all sit straight on top with no box spring. There's a centre beam with a support leg. Everything ships in one slim box with the tools included — a ratchet wrench comes in the box — and two people can have it up in under an hour.

25,566 reviews at 4.4 stars, the biggest review base in this category. Two things come up again and again: a steel frame survives being taken apart and reassembled, where wooden ones loosen and get sloppy after the second move, and the bolted build stays tight years later; and it doesn't look industrial once assembled. Some note the base feels firm — a mattress on slats sits more rigidly than on a box spring, so go thicker on the memory foam if you like it soft.

13% isn't a dramatic cut, but large furniture carries real shipping and volume costs, so $30 off is not nothing. If you're replacing a frame and want the extra storage underneath at the same time, this is a reasonable place to land.
