GE 7.2 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer — Sensor Dry Stops When Clothes Are Dry! $699.99 CAD (44% Off)

Best Buy currently has the GE 7.2 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer (GTD49EBMRWS, White) for $699.99 CAD, down from a $1,249.99 list price — 44% off. Orders over $35 ship free.

The point of this machine is Sensor Dry: sensors inside the drum read moisture levels and end the cycle when the load is actually dry, rather than running a fixed timer and baking your clothes past the point. Seven cycles cover Cottons, Casuals, Quick Fluff, Auto Dry and Time Dry, and four temperature settings let you match heat to fabric — high for cotton and linen, low for synthetics. After the cycle, a stretch of unheated tumbling loosens wrinkles so you can fold straight out of the drum.

At 7.2 cu. ft. the drum handles a family's sheets, duvet covers and towels in one pass instead of two. The glass-panel door has a reversible hinge, so it opens left or right to suit your laundry room. Dimensions are 27.09 in. wide (68.8 cm), 43.31 in. high (110 cm) and 27.09 in. deep, with a 52.07 kg unit weight — it fits a standard laundry alcove. The aluminized steel drum comes with an interior light, lint filter and end-of-cycle signal, and a Sanitize option that claims to remove 99.9% of bacteria.

Worth knowing before you buy: this is a vented electric dryer, so it needs a standard dryer outlet and a vent to the outside. There's no steam, no Wi-Fi, and it isn't ENERGY STAR certified — EnerGuide puts it at roughly 650 kWh per year.

It holds 1,875 reviews on Best Buy averaging 4.5 out of 5. A $1,249.99 list price cut to $699.99 is close to half off, which is rare for a GE dryer sold through regular retail channels.
