BIC Velocity Max 0.9mm Mechanical Pencils, 2-Pack — Thick Lead That Won't Snap! $7.50 CAD (37% Off)

Amazon.ca has the BIC Velocity Max mechanical pencil 2-pack in 0.9 mm, with erasers and lead refills, for $7.50 CAD (list $11.99, 37% off). Prime members ship free; otherwise orders over $35 ship free.

The 0.9 mm lead is the whole point: thick enough that it doesn't snap when you press hard, which makes it a good fit for kids doing homework or anyone with a heavy hand. The eraser is 75% wider than the original Velocity, the soft gel grip saves your fingers on long writing sessions, and the HB lead lays down a dark line that works for standardized test bubbles. One pencil covers roughly the writing of 2.5 wooden pencils, with no sharpening.

It's at 4.8 stars across about 4,800 reviews and ranks #40 in Mechanical Pencils — the kind of thing people buy again once they've used it.

Worth knowing: 0.9 mm won't give you fine lines. If you normally write with 0.5, this will feel noticeably thick, and refills need to be the 0.9 mm size.

Two pencils for $7.50 works out under $4 each — easy to keep a pack at home and one at the office.
