Apple AirPods Max 2 (Orange) — Over-Ear ANC That Actually Silences the Street

Amazon.ca has the Apple AirPods Max 2 in Orange for $799 CAD — that's list price, no discount. Prime members ship free; otherwise orders over $35 ship free.

The H2 chip is the foundation here: cleaner highs, and bass that reaches deeper than the first generation. Active Noise Cancellation is up to 1.5x stronger than the previous model, Adaptive Audio adjusts the level to wherever you are, and Conversation Awareness drops the volume the moment someone speaks to you — no need to take them off. Spatial Audio tracks your head, so movies sound like they're coming from the screen rather than your ears.

New this generation: hold the listening-mode button to trigger Live Translation through Apple Intelligence, which converts what the other person is saying into your language. Genuinely useful for calls across languages or travelling.

USB-C carries lossless audio, and the same cable charges your other Apple gear. Battery is 20 hours with ANC and Spatial Audio on — with a two-hour daily commute, that's one charge a week.

The reviews tell a consistent story: the noise cancelling is the real thing — one owner took a call on a busy street and the person on the other end never guessed he was outdoors. Sound and comfort hold up for the money. Two things to know going in: they feel heavy and the ear cushions get warm at first, which most people adjust to within a week; and yes, they're expensive.

Five colours, and the orange one sells out regularly in Canada. $799 is the standard price — waiting for the low $600s usually means Black Friday or a Prime Day lightning deal, and even then not necessarily in the colour you want. This is a buy-it-when-you-want-it purchase, not a wait-for-a-deal one.
