The shell is 1200D polyester, on the heavier end for backpacks, with reinforced construction to match. Capacity is 31 litres at 19 x 14.25 x 9 inches, sized for a 17-inch laptop.

The real selling point is the ScanSmart compartment: the whole laptop section lays flat and opens up, so you leave the laptop inside and send the bag through security. Anyone who travels alone with a carry-on knows how much time that saves. There's a tablet sleeve in the same section, up to 10 inches.

Organization is the other strength — seven pockets plus internal dividers, so chargers, cables, documents and small items each have a place instead of turning into a pile at the bottom.
